Marcus Rashford a doubt for Carabao Cup final against Newcastle

Manchester United could be without Marcus Rashford this weekend for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle.

The 25-year-old has been in the form of his life since returning after the World Cup and helped his side to beat Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Sadly, Rashford’s game came to an end in the 88th minute. It looked like he took a knock in a collision with a Barcelona player just minutes prior, which immediately led to questions over whether he would be fit enough to face Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag was asked at this morning’s pre-final press conference and he told reporters (via Independent.ie): “I don’t know.

“So, players now are coming in. We have to do investigations, medical of course.

“Yesterday we did but straight after the game most of the time you can’t say.

“We have to wait for a 100 per cent diagnosis, so we have to wait.”

Ten Hag went on to rule Anthony Martial out of the final, though that hardly comes as a surprise due to the Frenchman’s abysmal lack of availability this season.

Fans will now start to question who will start if Rashford gets bad news ahead of the final.

Fingers crossed he can pass a late fitness test if required.
