Manchester United learn fate for Europa League last-16 after triumphant play-off win

Manchester United will face Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16.

They saw off Spanish opponents last night to book their place in the last-16, beating Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate across both legs of the play-off tie.

The emphatic atmosphere marked another memorable night at Old Trafford under the floodlights, with the faithful supporters roaring on the players through every pass, tackle, challenge and shot against fellow European heavyweights Barcelona. It proved testament to the sensational impact Erik ten Hag has had on this once-deflated United side.

Now though, he must prepare his players for Thursday, March 9 when the Red Devils face Real Betis at the Theatre of Dreams. The second leg will then take place the following week on March 16 at the Benito Villamarin Stadium. Betis sit fifth-placed in La Liga.

Until then, United can lift their first trophy in five years when they face Newcastle this Sunday in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
