‘We’ll see’ – Sabitzer’s agent undecided on player’s future after Manchester United loan spell

Marcel Sabitzer’s agent Roger Wittmann has reflected on the midfielder’s start to life at Manchester United and assessed the prospect of him completing a permanent move.

Sabitzer has impressed viewers and supporters so far after making four Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, three of which have come as a starter.

The Austrian was acquired to fill in for the injured Christian Eriksen who has been ruled out of action until late April/early May – essentially missing a crucial period of the closing stages of the season.

He was keen to make the switch from Bayern Munich to try and secure more game time after falling down the pecking order in Germany. Sabitzer’s one-on-one tackling, pressing and passing has made him an exceptional addition to the line-up, and he has proven to be a like-for-like replacement for the Dane.

Wittmann on Sabitzer

Wittmann spoke to SPORT1 regarding his player’s time in Manchester so far.

“Marcel is a top player. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s performing so well so quickly. If you have as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, it doesn’t take long to find your way around a club and a league like this.

“He loves this English hardness! It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He’s an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that’s what’s needed there. At Manchester United, we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I’m very happy for him.”

Currently, Sabitzer is due to return to his parent club in June, though Wittmann is seemingly undecided on the 28-year-old’s future beyond his loan spell.

“We’ll see when the time comes.”
