Manchester United track New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic

Manchester United are keeping tabs on New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic ahead of a possible summer move.

Some reports may lead you to believe Manchester United are in the market for a shot-stopper, but it still looks like David de Gea will be handed a contract extension to remain at the club.

Unless the club are looking for a new second choice goalkeeper, with Dean Henderson unlikely to have a future at Old Trafford, I don’t think we will be in the hunt for a new no 1.

Henderson could end up earning a permanent deal at Forest, although he faces a battle to take Keylor Navas’ place in the team when he returns from injury.

De Gea has registered 34 appearances for United across all competitions this season, keeping 15 clean sheets.

Journalist Tom Bogert claims no contact has been made between United and New England Revolution, but the Reds have been scouting him this season.

Bogert tweeted: “Sources: Manchester United heavily scouting New England Revolution and Serbia int’l goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. No official contact between clubs yet. Petrovic, 23, quickly recognized among best GKs in the MLS. Two caps with Serbia. Finalist for MLS GK of the Year last season.”

The Serbia international stands at 6ft inch.
