Richard Keys claims Man Utd are playing with 10-men when one player starts

Wout Weghorst has endured a difficult time in front of goal since he joined Manchester United, with the Dutchman finding the net just once since sealing a loan move in January.

Despite his poor goalscoring form, the former Burnley star has started all Premier League games since joining and it does not look like that is changing anytime soon.

Anthony Martial’s neverending bout with injuries means that Weghorst was Erik ten Hag’s only option in that position but now, with Marcus Rashford playing there from time to time, the combative forward has been trialled in a new position.

He has been used as a deep-lying centre-forward in the last three games and it was most notable in the 2-0 win at Leeds, with Rashford scoring the winner from his more advanced position and Weghorst assisting the second goal.

He has not been immune to criticism, however, with BeIN Sports pundit Richard Keys now launching a scathing attack on the player, claiming United are playing with 10 men when he’s on the pitch.

You’re playing with ten most weeks if he’s in,” Keys is quoted as saying on BeIN Sports.

I mean, he doesn’t do enough to justify a starting place, does he? Come on, let’s be honest.”

Weghorst’s current deal will see him remain a United player until the end of the season but the loan arrangement does not include an option or obligation to buy.
