(Video) Erik ten Hag explains Harry Maguire absence from squad vs Leicester City

Erik ten Hag has the chance to further cement Manchester United’s position in this season’s top four as victory over Leicester City would put them eight points clear of fourth-placed Newcastle United, who lost to Liverpool earlier this weekend.

Additionally, three points at Old Trafford would close the gap on second-placed Manchester City, who were surprisingly held by Nottingham Forest.

First, United need to secure three points against an in-form Leicester side and speaking ahead of the game, Ten Hag revealed that Harry Maguire misses out on the squad due to injury, with Anthony Martial and Antony remaining on the sidelines as well.

“Harry (Maguire) is injured,” Ten Hag told Football Daily, as seen above.

“You have to keep everyone fresh but also you look to the opponent. Tactical wise, what can you do? Where can you beat them?

“So in that approach, you try to make, every time, the best selection, of course.”

Raphael Varane starred in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona earlier this week but the Frenchman has been rested for this encounter after also sitting out the win over Leeds last weekend.

Varane is likely to come straight back into the fold in the return leg against the Catalan giants next week but for now, he is replaced by Victor Lindelof. Lisandro Martinez missed the trip to Barcelona but starts today.
