Team news: Manchester United host in-form Leicester City in Premier League clash

Manchester United will host Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 19. Kick-off is at 2 pm.

The Red Devils return to Premier League action after a Europa League thriller took place in Barcelona last night.

United matched the La Liga leaders stride-for-stride at the Camp Nou and were unlucky to not see out a win in the first leg of the Round of 16 play-off tie.

Now though, it’s back to domestic action. Erik ten Hag confirmed yesterday that the squad and staff would be travelling back to England following the game to recover and prepare for this weekend’s outing against the Foxes.

The Foxes are on the back of two four-goal victories; 4-2 against Aston Villa on February 4 and a 4-1 thrashing against top-four candidates Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Reds picked up a crucial three points against rivals Leeds United at Elland Road at the weekend, but before that, they were held to a 2-2 draw at home.

Given their opponents’ recent form, a win will not come too easy on Sunday.

Casemiro’s suspension now resumes and he will serve the last of his three-game ban for this fixture. Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer were unavailable last night due to suspension but can feature on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag is awaiting full fitness from injured trio Antony, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.

The boss feels that more time on the training pitches is required before he can decide on several players.

“We have to wait until tomorrow. Maybe one or two players can return, yeah,” Ten Hag told club media on Friday afternoon.

Speaking about Martinez and Sabitzer, the boss added: “You don’t want to miss them in the squad, in Barcelona. They are important players for our team,” Ten Hag told club media when asked about the pair.

“They are back in the squad, which is good. That will strengthen the squad, so we will have a good team on Sunday.”

Trusted defender Ricardo Pereira has made his long-awaited return from injury and could be named in the starting lineup to face United. He made a brief two-minute cameo against Spurs last game, so Brendan Rodgers will be keen on adding minutes to his legs.
