Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been asked about the potential takeover of the club.
It is believed that proposals to buy the club will be made today, with several reports stating that Qatari investors are leading the race to takeover from the Glazer family, with the Americans set to profit massively without clearing the debt on the club themselves.
Manchester United fans can expect investors from the United States, as well as the Middle East to join the race to buy the club. Mancunian businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also expected to make an offer through his company INEOS.
The Glazers announced before the New Year that they would “explore strategic alternatives to enhance the club’s growth”, and it was always thought they would conduct a sale of the club as a result. There was whispers about it for at least six months before the announcement came with reports of a split between the Glazer family when it came to the future of the football club.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference ahead of United’s game against Leicester City on Sunday, Ten Hag was asked about the potential takeover.
“We are following it, it’s out club,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “And of course, we are committed but we are focusing on football, on training and our way of play, and games, we are focusing on that.
“We are enjoying our togetherness at the moment. It’s really enjoyable to work and we are focusing on games and we are in four competitions. Others in the club will have to make decisions and give efforts in the process but it’s not up to us.”
He was also pushed on whether Richard Arnold was keeping him in the loop since he is focused on winning football matches like every top manager should be.
“From the start, yes. They informed me how the process will go,” the boss added.
“I focus on football, they are focusing on other parts, departments of the club how to get everything financed.”
