I definitely think Marcus Rashford can now be considered as one of the best forwards in Europe. His continual improvement this season has seen as player go from having an uncertain future to someone we are all desperate to see sign a new contract.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes Rashford is currently the best player in the Premier League. He is not ignoring the impact Erling Haaland has had in front of goal for Man City this season, but he is not quite scoring goals at the same volume he was at the beginning of the campaign.
In turn, Rashford has 13 goals since the domestic season returned after the World Cup. That’s an incredible rate to be scoring goals at the highest level, so long may it continue because United will benefit from it.
Speaking to Paddy Power, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Saha said: “For me, there is absolutely no question that Marcus Rashford is the best player in the Premier League right now. A lot of players played well and scored loads of goals like Erling Haaland, but in terms of quality and the full package, from December he’s been unplayable.
“He’s got the confidence and he’s playing unbelievably well. He’s also not really been helped by Wout Weghorst. The system reminds me a little bit of Kylian Mbappé and Olivier Giroud for France.
“When you have a player in full confidence, it’s going to be hard for any defender to cope with Rashford. He’s very smart and won’t get into situations where he’ll get bullied. There is no better player in the Premier League than Rashford right now.”
This season he has been our brightest star in the final third. I’m delighted he’s back to his best and Erik ten Hag, along with his coaching staff, deserve a lot of credit for that.
