David Beckham turns down approaches to join a takeover bid for Manchester United

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has reportedly turned down any approaches about joining a consortium’s bid for Manchester United.

It is believed the global football icon has been approached several times due to his worldwide stature as well as his connections to United, having come through the club’s academy before winning the Treble in 1999.

Beckham would later join Real Madrid in 2003 after a fallout with Sir Alex Ferguson, but it was thought he could be involved in a bid to takeover the club, with the Glazer family set to sell.

It is rumoured that Qatari investors will make a bid before Friday’s deadline and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s spokesperson has already confirmed that INEOS will be making an offer.

The Daily Telegraph claims Beckham will not join any venture to takeover United, even those from Qatar despite his ambassadorial role for the country at the 2022 World Cup.

After all the controversy that caused Beckham, who we thought was conscious of his reputation, we are not surprised to see him step back from his Qatari links.

Easy do they after accepting all that money to promote the World Cup.
