Reports suggest Manchester United’s club captain Harry Maguire has ‘accepted’ that his exit from the club will likely come this summer.

That is according to Daily Mail, which confirmed the club are ready to cut their losses and take a £40 million hit if Maguire exits at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has made just five Premier League starts this season and just two starts in 2023. Both of which resulted in clean sheets, though Erik ten Hag’s preferred partnership is still Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

Maguire has fallen out of favour

The Dutch boss has even started utilising left-back Luke Shaw as a centre-back, which could force Maguire even further down the pecking order.

For an £80 million asset, the England international just has not lived up to the expectations, unfortunately. Given United’s resurgence under Ten Hag, he will only want world-class players at his disposal for the coming seasons.
