Report: Diogo Dalot set to sign new Manchester United contract

Diogo Dalot is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract at Manchester United. That should be enough to put an end to speculation over interest from the likes of Barcelona for the foreseeable future.

The Portuguese international arrived at Old Trafford from FC Porto in 2018, but he has had to bide his time and work hard to get get into the team.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Dalot will remain with United and sign a five-year contract to commit his long-term future to the club.

Erik ten Hag will want to ensure that Dalot remains at Old Trafford because he has been one of our most improved players this season, ultimately making the right-back role his own.

This should end Barcelona’s hopes of securing Dalot’s services in the summer. Their current options for the rule are Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto, so it looks like changes will be made in the summer. I wonder if they want Aaron Wan-Bissaka?

United can knock Barcelona out of Europa League

To make matters worse for Barcelona, I honestly believe we will beat them in the Europa League later this month.

They might be on course to win La Liga this season, but Xavi goes into the game needing to deal with injuries to Sergio Busquets as well as Ousmane Dembele.

Dalot should be fully fit for the two legs after enduring a spell in the treatment room.
