Bruno Fernandes disappointed as Manchester United drop two points vs Leeds

Bruno Fernandes said it was ‘two points dropped’ against Leeds tonight.

The Portuguese Magnificio isn’t wrong. Manchester United were heavy favourites going into tonight’s Premier League clash against a side that sacked their manager just two ago. On top of that, they’ve won the joint fewest games (4) in the top flight this season.

After the game, Fernandes told MUTV (via The Mirror): “It’s always two points dropped at our home. It has to be tough for everyone to come here and score goals and gain points from us. We gave a point away to Leeds and we lost two points for us, we could have won the game.

“We had the chance to win, a little bit unlucky in some situations but it’s gone now and we have to look forward to the next game. The only thing we can do now is to learn from the mistakes we did today and don’t do them again on Sunday.

“At this stadium, with the desire and the passion we have, 2-0 can’t happen, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Whenever we go down, it will never be a problem to fight back and turn around the result, even more at home, as we saw today.

“Massive appreciation for the fans, they pushed us at the end and we could have won the game. I think we deserved that win, but as I said, in this stadium, with these players, it will never be a problem to down in the last minutes because we will always fight.”

United have a chance to get revenge on Leeds when they travel to Elland Road on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side missed out on the chance to win their 14th consecutive home match after forcing a comeback to avoid defeat against Leeds.

Marcus Rashford added to his tally of Premier League goals (11) before Jadon Sancho provided the highlight of the night. The winger only recently returned from a three-month lay-off and his goal secured a point for United.

While it was a relief to score twice in the second half, there’s no denying that the Reds wasted a good opportunity to add three points to their tally for the season. The performance was shoddy as Leeds took advantage whenever our players suffered lapses in concentration.

United must do better on Sunday. No excuses.
