Team news: Manchester United take on longtime rivals Leeds at Old Trafford

Manchester United host longtime rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, February 8. Kick-off is at 8pm.

A chance to pick up a 14th consecutive home win is on the cards for the Red Devils if they’re able to see off the out-of-form Leeds, before making the trip to Elland Road on Sunday for the reverse fixture.

After several months of poor form, which has them sitting 17th place in the Premier League, the Leeds board opted to sack Jesse Marsch on Monday following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest. It has since been confirmed that former United coach Chris Armas will be in the dugout for the away team, whilst Under-21 coach Michael Skubala will take over managerial duties.

The Whites are winless against United since their return to the top flight; overseeing three defeats and one draw.

The Reds are on the back of a triumphant 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace.

United team news

An obvious and notable absence will be Casemiro, whose wild antics during the Palace clash earned him a straight red card. The Brazilian will sit out of tomorrow’s game, Sunday’s trip to Yorkshire and a home meeting with Leicester City. He will return in time for the Carabao Cup final on February 26.

Injury-wise, Anthony Martial was sidelined at the weekend after picking up yet another setback in his recovery. One positive is that Diogo Dalot made the bench but was unused, so he may return to action tomorrow night.

Leeds team news

Leeds’ most prolific goalscorer Rodrigo is ruled out of action for the forthcoming weeks, whilst Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Archie Gray have all been absent.

Patrick Bamford is back from injury and Robin Koch will be available after serving a one-game suspension against Forest.
