Danny Simpson believes Manchester United consider re-signing Crystal Palace star

Wilfried Zaha’s contract at Crystal Palace is set to expire at the end of the season.

The former Manchester United winger is free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs from abroad, while any interested Premier League outfits will have to wait until the summer to approach Zaha.

Zaha, 30, spent two years at Old Trafford between 2013 and 2015 — making just four appearances for the first-team before being sold back to Palace.

According to The Athletic, Zaha will decided on his future once the current campaign has come to an end.

Former United defender Danny Simpson believes the Red Devils should consider re-signing Zaha.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, as quoted by the Metro, Simpson said: “I feel like Wilf plays better when he is the main man. I know he was a lot younger when he went to Untied, but if he goes to another top four top side he’s not going to be the main man. I would bring him back here. If you look at Marcus Rashford as the No.9 and Wilfried on the left, that is some firepower. It was Sir Alex Ferguson who signed him then he left. Moyes obviously came in and it didn’t work out. I do genuinely believe if Sir Alex was the manager when he signed we would have seen a different Wilfried Zaha at Manchester United.”

Zaha would be a big loss to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace were without Zaha when they travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday due to injury, and Patrick Vieira won’t want to lose him on a permanent basis.

Zaha has been Palace’s star player since returning to the club and they would struggle to buy a suitable replacement for the wide man. He has made 450 appearances for the club, scoring 89 goals and providing a further 76 assists.

I think the opportunity to set the record straight at Manchester United would appeal to Zaha.
