Jurgen Klopp blown away by Marcus Rashford

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Manchester United in-form forward Marcus Rashford.

Jurgen Klopp has signed two players this season who predominantly play on the left wing, but neither Darwin Nunez or Cody Gakpo have shown that they are on the same level as Marcus Rashford.

The Liverpool manager has been hugely impressed by how well Rashford has done for United so far this season. The England international already has 10 goals in the Premier League this season and you would put your money on him adding many more before it all concludes in May.

Ahead of Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Wolves, Klopp suggested that his Liverpool players need to start picking themselves up – like Rashford has done at United.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “One of the best examples is probably Marcus Rashford. The season he had last year and the season he is having this year, I’m not sure he can explain it.

“Of course, Erik ten Hag coming in, a new voice, a different approach, all of these things [can make a difference]. It’s not like Marcus didn’t want to deliver last year, I’m pretty sure about that.

“But now he is flying, and that’s how it goes. You have to use the time in between these two extremes, you have to work through it and fight through it. Self-pity is not allowed in these moments. The only one person you can change it is yourself.”

Of course, Rashford is a perfect example for any player going through a difficult period. He had people completely writing him off last season and now he is regarded as one of the top players in Europe.

No wonder Klopp wants his players to take inspiration from the United star.

The 25-year-old currently earns £225,000-per-week, as per SalarySport, and he is set to be offered a new deal by the club.

Erik ten Hag is getting the best out of Rashford and long may that continue.
