(Video) Marcus Rashford sets sights on Carabao Cup glory after reaching final

Manchester United have the opportunity to win silverware roughly halfway through the season after they reached the Carabao Cup final following a 5-0 aggregate win over Nottingham Forest.

Erik ten Hag’s men will face Newcastle United at Wembley at the end of this month and victory over the Magpies would end a six-year wait for a trophy at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford, who has been United’s best player this season, was part of the last trophy-winning squad at United and speaking after he helped the Reds to the final, he has admitted that there is no point in making it to the final without winning it.

“You want to win the first available trophy and the Carabao Cup is the first one,” he told Sky Sports Premier League, as seen above.

“We’ve worked hard and I think we deserve to be there. Like you said, it’s not about just getting there, we want to show that the hard work was worth something and winning a trophy would be great for and great for the fans.”

Further quizzed on the matter, Rashford explained that obtaining silverware was part of the objectives going into the campaign.

“Yeah, 100%,” he said. “It’s a hunger for trophies that the club has always had. Even when I was younger growing up, you just knew coming into February, when that first trophy is available, if United are still in the hunt for it they’re going to want to win it.

“It’s as simple as that really. It’s something we’ve got installed in us and I’m pleased we’ve managed to put ourselves in the situation.”
