Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha will not feature for Crystal Palace when they travel to Old Trafford this weekend.
The former Manchester United attacker sustained a hamstring injury in Crystal Palace’s recent draw with Newcastle, which means they could be without the winger for up to six weeks, as per The Daily Mail.
Zaha will obviously aim to return before then but he won’t be fit enough to take on his former club this weekend as he has yet to return to first team training.
On Zaha’s fitness, Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira said (via BBC Sport): “He is still on the treatment table. His injury will take a couple of weeks so we will have to do without him. He is someone who recovers quite quickly. We don’t want to put a date on his injury.”
Meanwhile, when it came to other injuries, Vieira added that James McArthur and Nathan Ferguson have been training with the first team for the past couple of weeks but it is still too early for them to play.
Joachim Andersen has also been ruled out.
After joining Manchester United in 2013 as Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing, Zaha failed to establish himself under David Moyes. He left two years later after struggling to get sufficient game time.
There is no denying that Saha’s absence makes the game slightly easier for United. Erik ten Hag and co need to take advantage of this on Saturday.
