Marcel Sabitzer flying to Manchester to complete loan move from Bayern Munich

It has been a busier deadline than we expected following the news of Christian Eriksen. Manchester United have moved quickly in search of cover and there is confidence growing at the club about the signing of Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.

According to James Ducker of The Telegraph, Sabitzer is set to leave Munich Airport for his flight to Manchester, where he hopes to complete his loan move before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Ducker tweeted: “Marcel Sabitzer is due to fly to Manchester shortly as #MUFC race to complete a loan deal from Bayern Munich before deadline.”

Landing another midfielder became a matter of urgency for United. We saw against Arsenal how we lack cover for Casemiro, but to be without Eriksen for up to three months forced United to act in the transfer market.

With nothing really left in the transfer kitty, United have been in the market for loan signings — as seen with Jack Butland from Crystal Palace and Wout Weghorst from Burnley.

It now looks like United will be adding Sabitzer to the mix.

All things considered, Ten Hag will put this down as a successful window if they can complete Sabitzer’s loan move in time.
