Manchester United are making a late move in the January transfer window to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.
Reports also suggested that Chelsea were in talks with Bayern Munich over a move, however, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims the Blues are focused on different players.
Romano adds that United are discussing potential terms with Bayern Munich following the news that Christian Eriksen will be out for up to three months with an ankle injury. This meant United’s need for a midfielder had to intensify on deadline day.
Meanwhile, Caught Offside understand that United are set to sign Sabitzer on loan with an option to buy. The Austria international is believed to be “excited” by the prospect of playing first team football on a regular basis.
Sabitzer joined Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 and has made 15 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season. Should United pull this move off on deadline day, I think it would be a great move.
The Austrian is quality on the ball and he runs for days. He’s also the type of player who can dictate the tempo in games, which we will need in Eriksen’s absence.
Let us know in the comments section if you would be happy with United signing Sabitzer on loan until the end of the season.
