In an interview published by Manchester United, Raphael Varane talks about the special bond he shares with fans.

The France international makes no secret of the fact that he enjoys playing in front of Manchester United fans.

Varane was asked if the opportunity was to arise, he is no stranger to experiencing a match in the stands – with those who support him on the pitch every week.

“Yes, definitely,” Varane told ManUtd.com. “If you really have this passion for football, I think it would have been an incredible experience.”

Ahead of United’s meeting with Reading in the FA Cup, Varane gave his verdict on the good relationship the team has with the fans. “I think it is a great relationship, I think there is a good connection with our fans.

“The atmosphere for this season is something amazing. I think it is a real support when we want to score a goal, when we have to defend the score, so I think it is very helpful when we are on the pitch. It is like having one more player.”

Varane also believes that the connection between players and fans is growing stronger.

“Yes, I think during matches, sometimes it is important to feel the energy, sometimes we need it and especially when you are a little bit tired and you want to win the game.

“I think it is very helpful and, yeah, we can feel the support and the connection when we do some movement to activate the support, they always respond and that is a great feeling. That’s extra energy and it’s very important. I think the connection is something special at the moment.”
