Erik ten Hag refuses to take credit for reviving Marcus Rashford’s career

“I’m not Harry Potter,” Erik ten Hag told reporters when asked about the magic Marcus Rashford is producing this season.

Erik ten Hag is not taking credit for reviving Marcus Rashford’s career at Manchester United.

The Dutchman is being modest at best. There’s no way he doesn’t deserve any credit in helping get Marcus Rashford back on track this season.

Rashford has scored 10 goals in his last 10 games and is in the best form of his career. Go back to last season and people were questioning whether the England international would have a future at Old Trafford.

Under Ralf Rangnick, Rashford was shot of any confidence but under Ten Hag he has found a manager that will put faith in him.

Ten Hag believes Rashford deserves all the praise for rediscovering his form and confidence.

“I’m not Harry Potter,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “It’s just confidence. Every player has to make and get his own confidence. He fought for this. He invested in this.

“Of course, with my coaching staff, we bring in structures that give him routines that he needs to get into the right position.

“But, finally, it’s up to him. When the player has the confidence then I’m convinced, in the way we are working, he can perform at his best.

“It’s obvious that Marcus at this moment is in really good shape, really good form.”

United fans will be hoping to see Jadon Sancho return to competitive action tomorrow night. Ten Hag hinted that he could feature against Reading.

“He is training with the team and we will see,” the manager added on Sancho. “He’s on his way back, he’s making steps and we will make the decision after training.”
