Manchester United’s loan signing Wout Weghorst has spoken highly of his teammate Marcus Rashford.

The Dutchman netted his first goal last night in just his third appearance for the Red Devils as United cruised to a 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. They now have one foot in the Carabao Cup final if they can replicate a similar performance in front of the Old Trafford faithful next Wednesday, February 1.

Rashford opened the scoring in the Midlands and registered his 18th goal of the season. It is also the ninth time in 10 matches played that he has found the back of the net at least once. The 25-year-old has been United’s talisman in attack this season and he has the opponent’s defenders trembling every time he gets on the ball.

Weghorst’s relationship with Rashford

Weghorst heaped praise on the fellow Red, whom he now accompanies in Erik ten Hag’s attacking line. He said post-match to the Independent: “You see the great run he’s in, he’s delivering, every week you see it in training.

“He’s got a lot of quality. He’s also a really good guy, a really open guy, he was the first one who came to me when I scored my goal. We have a good relationship. You see the qualities he has. He’s extremely important for us, the way we play, he’s a massive part.”
