Manchester United eye move for another striker in January

Manchester United have improved under Erik ten Hag this season but recent financial results show why we appear to be restricted to short-term deals in the transfer market.

Recent figures from The Athletic suggest United could soon run into Financial Fair Play problems, with the club running a deficit of £2 million a week not too long ago.

Add that to the fact United have seen no growth in commercial and match day income since 2016. While the pandemic didn’t help the club, neither have the Glazers because feels like something that was a long time coming.

This is all far from ideal for manager Ten Hag, who has United competing in four competitions, when he should be backed in the transfer market to continue his rebuild.

Thus far we’ve only managed to sign Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are looking to agree a small fee to sign another striker before the transfer deadline ends next week.

Weghorst scored his first goal for the club on Wednesday night against Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is still waiting on Anthony Martial to reach full fitness. His lack of availability is the biggest reason the Dutchman wants to strengthen in attack and it warrants questions about his future.
