(Video) Wout Weghorst reacts to scoring first Manchester United goal

Wout Weghorst is off the mark at Manchester United after the Dutchman scored his first goal for the club in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The victory sets the foundation for what should be a comfortable passage into next month’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, with Erik ten Hag’s men set to welcome Steve Cooper’s side to Old Trafford for the return leg next week.

There were a number of impressive performers for the Reds at the City Ground but few will be more pleased than Weghorst, who has now delivered his reaction to opening his United account.

“Yeah, it’s always special and you always want to score goals,” Weghorst told Football Daily after the game, as seen above. “Also, you prefer to have this first one, of course, as quick as possible.

“So really happy. I think it was a really important moment also. 2-0, I think shortly before the half-time, that gives us a way better feeling in the break.”

Weghorst recently admitted that he would like to remain at Old Trafford beyond the six-month stay that has been arranged but the former Bundesliga star has admitted that he needs to earn a permanent move.

It’s safe to say that although he failed to score in his first two appearances, he has made a promising start and Ten Hag will be delighted with his latest recruit.
