Manchester United have been urged to sign Harry Kane in the summer.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes the potential arrival of Tottenham Hotspur striker Kane would only boost our chances of winning trophies.
The former Arsenal star believes Kane is the type of forward United need to take the team to the next level, Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson said (via Sky Sports): “Is Harry Kane going to go for individual records or is he going to go for medals? I don’t see him winning anything at Tottenham.
“He’s going to beat Jimmy Greaves’ goalscoring record, which is a phenomenal feat. He’s got a chance of beating Alan Shearer’s Premier League record at Tottenham.
“Tottenham have been good to Kane, at the same time as Kane’s been good to Tottenham. He’s got kids, he’s married – he’s got to play where he’s happy. Would you want to change all that?”
Kane’s happiness is a key factor were because he may not want to leave London if his family is comfortably settled, although he didn’t see too worried about that when he had a slim chance to sign for Man City.
Tottenham take on Preston North End in the FA Cup at the weekend, which looks like their only chance to win a trophy this season, whereas Manchester United and co will have something to say about that.
