Manchester United have one foot in the Carabao Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg of their semi-final at the City Ground.
Goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst Bruno Fernandes secured the win for United and Erik ten Hag will be happy to have a strong position going into next week’s second leg at Old Trafford.
Manchester United fans have been reacting to the win on social media. A lot of them will be trying to pre-book their trips to London for the final, but it remains to be seen how those who didn’t opt in for the cup games this season can apply for the Wembley final.
Below are some of the best tweets we came across at full-time.
Not the most convincing United performance but we've settled the tie in the first leg. Very pleased with that and best of all, we can now afford to rest a few players for the next two games and regroup for a tough February.
See you at Wembley Newcastle.

It looks like we’re putting that semi final curse to bed. And what fabulous support at the City Ground. 3-nil was a lot more comfortable than it could have been #FORMUN

Exactly what we wanted. Strong team, slap them, get the job done.

During a time where we’re playing every few days for the next month, it’s so important to get a convincing win so we can properly rotate for the home leg. Great result 👏

It was unthinkable after the 4-0 loss to Brentford that in January we’d be comfortably in the top 4 and in a cup final.
Erik ten Hag has done an absolutely incredible job. 👏 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/tbvhJfEPEC— Stretford Paddock (@StretfordPaddck) January 25, 2023

Antony looked like our most dangerous forward tonight. Getting himself into the thick of the central striking positions on many occasions. Showing that when he has licence to roam, he can be more than just a regimented hard working winger.
A night for praise. Not fault finding.— David Walsh (@davidwalsh1956) January 25, 2023
FINAL | 0-3
Comfortable is an adjective for describing the scoreline but not the actual match.
However, most importantly, United still managed to take care of business and have a big lead going into the semi-final second leg at Old Trafford!#mufc

Perfect result for #MUFC. Getting the job done in the first leg allows some players much needed rest next week before a hectic month. Another goal for Rashford & Fernandes, Wout with his first and a clean sheet. Wembley beckons. #CarabaoCup

Rashford keeps scoring, Weghorst first goal, Bruno banger, 3 goals, clean sheet and Wembley is calling. A beautiful night 🤝
