Erik ten Hag encourages Marcus Rashford to sign new Manchester United contract

Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life and everyone wants to see him sign a new long-term contract at Manchester United.

The England forward has entered the last 18 months of his current deal and it’s almost time to sit down and sort out his future. Erik ten Hag is making it crystal clear that Rashford is part of his plans and it will only be a matter of time before we know the player’s decision.

Ten Hag is under the impression that Manchester United is “the best place” for Rashford to continue his career. Somewhere he is understood, adored and supported.

“The last I can’t answer, it is confidential about talks between clubs and players,” Ten Hag said of the speculation over Rashford’s future, as per the Manchester Evening News. “I think he understands Man United is his club, that’s first, and also in this environment, in this team, he is playing his best football.

“He is improving and that is about him. Because he is working on the good things, he is giving 100 per cent energy and he has a good plan and I think also in this team he can bring his qualities.

“So this team can help him be in the right position to score goals when he is good at. This team is constructed like this so that his qualities come in front. So I think he knows that but, definitely, he is important for us. If we want to get the success we want, we need him.

“I hope that all our players can (generate) interest from clubs because that means we do a good job and the team is outperforming so that is what we are aiming for. Then I would say this is the best place to be because we want to construct the best team, first in England, then in Europe and then the world.”

United recently triggered the one-year option in Rashford’s contract to tie him to the club until 2024. This gave the club more time to start discussions with the player’s representatives over an improved deal, though there has been suggestions that Paris Saint-Germain could make a move to tempt the forward to move to Paris.

Leaving Old Trafford would make little sense right now as Rashford enjoys the form of his life. The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals for United this season, including nine in his last nine matches, and he is in line for a bumper deal.

I have no concerns over Rashford’s future. He’s a red and I’m sure he will be looking to be part of Ten Hag’s future teams.
