Axel Tuanzebe returns to first-team training at Manchester United

Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe has returned to first team training.

The defender has been out of action for some time — since dropping out of Manchester United’s pre-season tour squad in July 2022.

Tuanzebe has had far too many serious injuries for them not to have hindered his development as an incredibly talented centre-back.

In December, he resumed individual training and remained at Carrington instead of joining the club’s winter training camp in Spain, which came too quick in his recovery.

Now he’s back with the first-team and finally has a chance to impress Ten Hag.

Manchester United’s official Twitter account shared photos from Monday’s training session on Twitter, featuring Tuanzebe and a number of his team-mates.

At 25, you can’t help but wonder if Tuanzebe’s days at United are numbered. A move is likely in the summer but it remains to be seen if he will add to his 37 first team appearances for the club.

Last season Tuanzebe was sent back on loan to Aston Villa, however, it didn’t go plan because a change of manager led to him seeking a move to Napoli. He picked up a number of injuries during his time in Italy and only made two appearances.

I would be shocked if he featured in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
