Fred sets new Manchester United record after Arsenal cameo

Fred has set a new Manchester United record after making a cameo off the bench against Arsenal yesterday.

The midfielder played for 19 minutes in last night’s tightly-contested clash with the Premier League leaders that unfortunately ended up swinging in the opponent’s favour. It was United’s first loss since returning from the World Cup break, showing the exceptional progress that has been made by Erik ten Hag.

Fred’s substitution into the game marked his 182nd appearance as a Red and consequently overtook Anderson for the most United appearances for a Brazilian. The 29-year-old is one of four Selecao members representing the Red Devils, along with Casemiro, Antony and Alex Telles – who is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at La Liga side Sevilla.

Fred has been a Red since 2018

Jose Mourinho signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 and he has since been an invaluable member of the squad. He has provided some crucial goals and his work ethic across the pitch is second to none, though Bruno Fernandes certainly gives him a run for his money!
