Former Manchester United right-back, Paul Parker has slammed Alejandro Garnacho’s agent for creating drama around the youngster’s future.

It is believed that Manchester United are pushing for the youngster to sign a new contract to commit his long-term future to Old Trafford. By securing a deal now, it will only save United down the line if clubs like Real Madrid start knocking on his door.

However, that just feels inevitable because Garnacho is that good.

It goes without saying that there will be figures at Atletico Madrid who regret not doing more to keep him from joining United’s academy, but there is little point crying over spilled milk.

Parker was speaking to wettbasis when he was asked for his thoughts on Garnacho.

“I don’t get why he would want to move away from the biggest club in the world,” Parker said. “And why Juventus or Real Madrid?

“Juventus is in a really bad place at this moment in time, so he would arrive there to sit on the bench for a poor side.

“And Real Madrid, of course they are a big club but he would play even less than what he is doing at Man United.”

Parker added: “So these rumours make absolutely no sense and I don’t believe that it’s true. I believe that the agent is trying to push Man United to give Garnacho a big contract, so that the agent can fill his pockets with a lot of money.

“That’s how agents work nowadays and Garnacho should consider firing him because he is not trying to help Garnacho.

“Actually, I don’t understand why the players want to have agents. The only thing they are doing is to create drama and take a part of the footballers’ hard earned money.”

Garnacho has been the break-out star for United this season under Ten Hag. The 18-year-old holds width a lot better than, say, Jadon Sancho and he has the potential to be a starter in the team.
