(Video) Luke Shaw admits Arsenal defeat was a ‘reality check’

Manchester United’s long unbeaten run has officially come to an end after a late goal by Eddie Nketiah secured all three points for Arsenal on Sunday evening.

It looked like United were going to sneak away with a point after coming back from behind but the hosts’ dominance eventually paid dividends.

Any suggestions of United being in the title race will now almost certainly be put to bed but at the end of it all, Erik ten Hag can still look back at his first six months and see stunning progression.

Luke Shaw, pinned against winger Bukayo Saka for the 90-minute affair, has delivered his post-match thoughts and admitted that the defeat was a ‘reality check’ for the Reds.

“The quality of these games is getting much higher,” he told Football Daily after the game, as seen above.

“It was tough to be involved in but these are games you want to play in and test yourselves. We are all gutted in the changing room to concede so late on and it is a reality check.”

United will now aim to get back to winning ways in just a couple of days as they make the trip to face Nottingham Forest in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

A trip to Wembley is at stake and Ten Hag will be desperate to secure that as he targets putting an end to United’s six-year wait for silverware.
