Manchester United to consider loan exits for two young wingers

Manchester United are well-stocked in wide positions and Jadon Sancho’s recent return to first-team training could mean that Erik ten Hag is willing to let a player or two leave this January.

Antony, the summer signing from Ajax, has also added quality to the right-hand side, with Marcus Rashford occupying the other flank.

Anthony Elanga was one of Ralf Rangnick’s favourites over the second half of last season but, evidently, Ten Hag is unconvinced by the young Swede.

Facundo Pellistri waited over two years for his opportunity at United and the Uruguay international did not make his first-team debut until earlier this month in the 3-0 win over Charlton in the FA Cup.

Now, there are suggestions that the Old Trafford club are ready to consider loan moves for both players. That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who says that a temporary exit will be sanctioned if a proposed move is good for the club and will aid the players’ development.

Additionally, an update is provided on three first-team regulars. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was one of the players Ten Hag was reportedly keen on offloading but the 25-year-old has resurrected his United career in stellar fashion and is now expected to stay.

Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are both on Ten Hag’s periphery but as per the report, they will be staying beyond this transfer window.

SN’s verdict…
Pellistri has had to be patient for his chance and when he finally go it, it’s safe to say that he impressed. He has already spent two seasons on loan at Alaves but a domestic move could do him the world of good.

A long-term future at Old Trafford is still plausible for Pellistri but it’s not looking as promising for Elanga, who continues to be overlooked by Ten Hag.

A loan move could work for Elanga but perhaps a permanent move is more beneficial for the club and the player.
