Wilfried Zaha thought he was in on goal until he saw Aaron Wan-Bissaka tracking back in the final minutes at Selhurst Park.
The former Manchester United winger broke through on goal before Wan-Bissaka swooped in to make a last-ditch challenge inside the box.
It was a perfectly timed tackle because Zaha was clear on goal – or in another case, a poorly timed tackle would have led to a penalty.
Zaha explained after the match why he feared the worst when he saw Wan-Bissaka cashing him.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Zaha praised Wan-Bissaka and explained how the right-back has perfected the art of the ‘scoop tackle’: “I looked back and thought, oh my god it’s Aaron!”
Other than breaking through on goal at the very end, Zaha didn’t offer much tonight. Luke Shaw kept the winger quite before Aaron Wan-Bissaka did a job on him.
Sadly for United, the game ended 0-0.
