West Ham could make loan bid for Harry Maguire with United willing to accept

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Harry Maguire on loan this month and Manchester United could be willing to accept a proposal.

That is according to The Mirror, which reported today that the Irons are on the hunt for a new centre-back to replace 32-year-old Michael Dawson.

They have outlined United’s club captain as a more experienced option, with 22-year-old Amiens defender Formose Mendy also being scouted for his potential.

It’s no secret that Maguire has fallen down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag, initially in the summer with the arrival of Lisandro Martinez, and now with Luke Shaw being utilised in a central role alongside Raphael Varane.

If it’s up to Maguire…

West Ham are facing a survival battle this season and currently sit in the bottom three, meaning Maguire will be under considerable pressure to boost the team’s hopes of staying in the top flight.

It’s unlikely the 29-year-old will want to leave Old Trafford, though, especially given the club’s recent outstanding form and the prospect of silverware this season.
