Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has reacted to speculation linking his side with a loan move for Manchester United starlet Zidane Iqbal.
Erik ten Hag made it clear that he rates Iqbal highly after giving him minutes during the pre-season tour. At 19, he is still very young and a loan move might not be the worst idea to ensure he gets regular game time for the rest of the season.
Reports this week have suggested Iqbal could be allowed to leave on loan.
The young midfield spent a week at Preston last season and it sounds like he made a good impression.
Speaking to the Lancashire Post, Lowe said: “There is no interest in us taking Zidane on loan, unless I’m told different from Man United and they say he wants to come, then it might be a different conversation. I haven’t been told that.”
Maybe United haven’t made a proposal to Preston – or anyone yet – and they could still be waiting to make a final decision on Iqbal.
Ten Hag should send the youngster on loan unless he plans to use him in the Europa League, Carabao Cup or FA Cup between now and the end of the season.
