Erik ten Hag provides injury update on Diogo Dalot after first-half substitution

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an injury update on Diogo Dalot.

The right-back was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the 34th minute of United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic this evening.

Dalot went straight down the tunnel at Old Trafford, which was a cause for concern for supporters as the 23-year-old has only just returned from an injury sustained at the World Cup.

Before the international break, the Portugal international had started every match except one, when he was ruled out due to suspension. He is considered one the most improved players under Ten Hag and has been instrumental to United’s outstanding defensive displays this season.

Dalot would likely be the manager’s first choice to line up in United’s must-win clash on Saturday – the Manchester derby. Both sides head into the fixture in top form and the points are crucial to the clubs’ top four and title hopes.

Post-match, Ten Hag spoke to MUTV and was asked about Dalot’s condition. He responded: “We have seen Diogo came off but it was a precaution. We have to see how it develops in the coming hours and then we have to make a clear decision.”
