Blackpool list Manchester United coach as contender to replace Michael Appleton

Eric Ramsay was brought to Manchester United by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021.

As set-piece coach, Ramsay’s role is help Manchester United score more and concede less goals from corners and free-kicks, but he has been renowned as one of the best up and coming coaches in the English game for some time.

We can only presume that is the reason behind Erik ten Hag keeping Ramsay as part of his coaching team, alongside Mitchell van der Gaag, Steve McClaren, Benni McCarthy and Richard Harris.

It is only this season that we are seeing a real improvement on the set-piece front. United have only conceded four goals from such scenarios in the league this season.

However, according to The Sun, Championship outfit Blackpool are ‘taking a look’ at Ramsay as a possible contender to become their new manager.

The Tangerines are currently 22nd in the Championship standings, which means Ramsay would have a big task on his hands to turn things around.

Currently manager Michael Appleton is under mounting pressure to keep his job.

Ramsay only needs to look at two of his former colleagues at United to see that it is possible to be an instant success in the Championship. Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna are both fine examples.
