Lampard: Nobody can stop Marcus Rashford when he’s in-form

Marcus Rashford was involved in all three goals against Everton in the FA Cup last night. There was a time when comparisons made to the world’s best forward Kylian Mbappe would have been greeted with laughs. That is no longer the case.

It was probably the last thing Frank Lampard needed last night with Everton future in doubt. They are now out of the FA Cup and sit in the Premier League’s relegation zone.

But Rashford in his current form doesn’t stop for anyone. The way he glided over the turf, the speed which he beat his marker, the ease and the constant treat he posed. This is a player at his very best.

Speaking after his side’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of United, Lampard told reporters (via The Telegraph): “We deserved better I think. The effort, the determination…after the defeat we had this week [against Brighton] this was the performance any manager would want in terms of attitude. We created the better chances, Marcus Rashford was the difference between the two teams. Nobody can stop him when he is like he was tonight.”

Although Everton fans sung about sacking the board last night, it seems like Lampard’s days at Goodison Park are numbered. The defeat last night was just another nail in the coffin.

United play Everton again in April. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a new manager in the dugout by then.
