Barcelona partner with ZENB while Manchester United seek new shirt sponsor

Manchester United are seen as a commercial juggernaut in the football world but thanks to a toxic ownership model and unflattering results, we recently saw TeamViewer cut their ties as shirt sponsor.

In Spain, Barcelona have just partnered up with ZENB, a gluten-free food brand trying to prove that plant-based food can be tasty and beneficial for athletes. The brand will become the Official Gluten-Free Food Partner of the club in the UK.

“We are thrilled to welcome ZENB as the Official Gluten-Free Partner of FC Barcelona in the UK,” said Barcelona’s Marketing Area Vice President Juli Guiu. “Their products are a shining example of how gluten free, plant-based food can be tasty and play an important part in our daily lives, we hope that through our partnership we can unlock the maximum potential of plant-based nutrition.”

ZENB strive to use as much of the whole vegetable as possible whilst their Yellow Pea pasta offers 17g of protein and 11g of fibre per serving.

Speaking about the partnership, ZENB’s UK Country Lead, Simon Goodwin, said: “We’ve partnered with FC Barcelona a legendary football team to bring our plant-powered, gluten-free mission to promote a balanced lifestyle to the global stage.”

To celebrate the partnership, ZENB are giving away a collection of prizes as part of a competition, which you can access here.

ZENB are giving fans the chance to win a VIP Day of Football which involves an away trip to Barcelona, complete with airfare, hotel, and tickets to a Barcelona match.

Manchester United looking for new shirt sponsor

The Red Devils are seeking a new front-of-shirt sponsor after agreeing to end their deal with German company TeamViewer. In March 2021, they signed a five-year deal with the club to replace Chevrolet’s logo on the shirt.

However, TeamViewer’s name will remain on United’s shirts until a new sponsor is found.

A statement released by Manchester United read (via Sky Sports): “After a period of collaborative, private discussions over the past months, Manchester United and TeamViewer AG have reached a mutually-beneficial agreement under which Manchester United shall have the option to buy back the rights of the club’s shirt front sponsorship.

“Having agreed its partnership with TeamViewer at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Manchester United will be taking the opportunity to commence a focused sales process for a new shirt front partner in a normalised market.

“Once a new shirt front partner is selected and takes on this role, TeamViewer will continue as a valued member of Manchester United’s suite of global partners, providing Manchester United with remote connectivity solutions, until the end of the original contract term in 2026.

“Since July 2021, TeamViewer has benefitted from unparalleled global exposure as the most talked-about shirt front partner in world football, following the most visible launch for a football club partner in the digital era.

“TeamViewer’s financial commitments to Manchester United remain unchanged whilst they remain the club’s shirt front partner, after which their financial commitments will reflect their status as a global partner. No further announcement will be made until Manchester United has selected a new partner to replace them on the front of its iconic shirt.”
