Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Manchester United should be pushing Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.
Stretty News readers know I like to refer to Gabriel Agbonlahor as ‘Gobby’ because of the amount of crap that comes out of his mouth. It wasn’t long ago that he was looking for reasons to slate our players during his radio appearances on talkSPORT.
And it’s not just United. Agbonlahor did his utmost to get under Jurgen Klopp’s skin earlier this season, but I don’t think anyone takes the former Premier League striker seriously as a pundit.
Just like nobody took him seriously as a player…
However, following United’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth, Agbonlahor said that Ten Hag’s side should be pushing Arsenal for the title.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “This is what I said last week, Man United should be looking at a title race, and everyone was saying ‘you’re crazy saying that’.
“Why not? A point behind Manchester City now, nine points behind Arsenal. Arsenal can still drop points. Manchester United got to be looking at pushing Arsenal.”
The main reason I take issue with Agbonlahor’s comments is I think they’re laying out a trap for United so that when we don’t win the league they can accuse Erik ten Hag of coming up short in his first season, which would be nonsense.
United’s objective this season is to finish in the Champions League spots. That doesn’t change as soon as we get back into the top four!
