Gabriel Agbonlahor has become more popular for his crazy takes on football than his playing career. That tells you everything you need to know about the former striker being one of the laziest pundits in the game.
Speaking about claims that Casemiro is the best defensive midfielder in the world, former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor stressed that the Brazilian isn’t worthy of such status.
Agbonlahor told TalkSPORT: “Well, I’m still picking Rodri over him. I think Graeme Souness will like the lot of this, but we haven’t seen much of Casemiro.
“Was everyone watching La Liga? In the Champions League, he’s seen for Real Madrid but not everyone is watching La Liga week in, week out. So maybe Souness hasn’t seen a lot of him, but I’d agree that he is a fool player playing in a great team with Modric, Kroos, Ronaldo, Bale.
“Whenever I watched him, he was the one absolutely fouling the life out of Neymar, Messi, Suarez – doing his job. I didn’t see that much of range of passing from him, that was mostly Modric and Kroos.
“At Manchester United, we’re getting a better view of what he does and he has the passing range in him which Graeme said he hasn’t. He has a decent strike on him as well and does the dirty work. He’s up there with one of the best in the league, but I love Rodri.”

What does Agbonlahor mean by we haven’t seen much of Casemiro? He has played 869 minutes in the Premier League and I think he’s much better than Rodri.
It’s Agbonlahor’s own fault for not doing research on the topics he talks about on radio, so from now on I’m going to call him ‘Gobby’ instead of ‘Gabby’!
The former Real Madrid midfielder has provided some truly world class performances for United in the last few months and I don’t think we’ve ever had a better holding midfielder.
Long may his strong performances continue.
