Manchester United will be looking to book a place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup when they take on Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss to Real Betis in a friendly last week whilst the visitors ran out 3-1 winners over Middlesbrough in the Championship at Turf Moor last weekend.

Erik Ten Hag is widely expected to play a strong starting eleven against Burnley with Anthony Martial, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all likely to feature.

Having not played a competitive fixture since November 13th it will be fantastic to see the Reds back in action on Wednesday night. Friendlies are one thing but nothing beats competitive football and even though the League Cup may not necessarily be top of the Reds wish list this season, it still represents silverware and is arguably the clubs best chance of wining a trophy this season.

However, it wont be easy. Burnley have enjoyed a terrific season under Vincent Kompany and currently find themselves sitting top of the championship table and in order for the Reds to progress its pivotal United do not take the visitors lightly.

Burnley will probably fancy their chances of causing an upset at Old Trafford given their recent form but despite that this is still a game United should undoubtedly be winning. United certainly have more than enough firepower to get past Burnley and if the Reds turn up and play like we know we can then we should still have far too much for Burnley and progress to the next round.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Burnley
