Brazilian trio return to Manchester United training ahead of Carabao Cup tie

Manchester United have released a series of photographs on social media from training on Tuesday as they prepared for the Carabao Cup third round clash against Burnley at Old Trafford.

The snaps show Brazilian trio Antony, Casemiro and Fred all return to Carrington – although the former former had already shared a selfie from the training ground on Monday.

Brazil were eliminated at the quarter-final stages of the World Cup after falling to defeat in a penalty shoot-out against Croatia.

Casemiro played a key role in Brazil’s midfield at the World Cup, while Antony played through bouts of illness – presumably in relation to the air conditioning at the stadiums in Qatar.

Fred, on the other hand, is a player who needs to prove himself throughout the second half of the season if he is to have a future under Erik ten Hag.

It’s good news for Ten Hag because it means he will have a stronger squad to select from on Wednesday night, when Vincent Kompany’s Championship side come to Old Trafford looking for an upset.

The Dutchman has 25 players available for selection tomorrow night.

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Dubravka, Bishop, Vitek.

Defenders: Maguire, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Williams, Malacia, Bennett.

Midfielders: Van de Beek, Iqbal, Eriksen, McTominay, Fred, Casemiro, Fernandes.

Forwards: Martial, Elanga, Pellistri, Rashford, Garnacho, Antony.
