Erik ten Hag takes former Manchester United striker out for dinner in Manchester

Erik ten Hag took some time out on Monday night to take former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie out for food in Manchester city centre.

The Dutch pair dined at Chinese restaurant Tattu in Spinningfields and were joined by their agent Kees Vos.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Van Persie is spending time back at United’s Carrington training complex to prepare for a career in management, with Ten Hag more than happy to help his friend out.

Although I am sure United fans would welcome him back, the report adds that Van Persie is not being linked up to join Ten Hag’s coaching staff.

Good to see they were dressed for the cold conditions!

The former Ajax manager is currently being assisted by Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren, while Benni McCarthy joined the coaching staff during the summer to help our strikers with their finishing.

I believe having Van Persie at training this week could benefit the likes of Anthony Martial. The Dutchman spent three seasons at Old Trafford following a controversial transfer from Arsenal, scoring 58 goals in 105 and winning the Premier League.

With United in the market for a new striker, Ten Hag may have asked Van Persie for this thoughts on the situation and I’m sure he would like to see Cody Gakpo become the next Dutch player to join the Red Devils.

Or is that wishful thinking while the Glazers try to sell the club?
