Man United suffer back-to-back defeats in Spain as Real Betis win

Manchester United’s mid-season training camp in Spain is over and Erik ten Hag will now begin preparing his side for the resumption of club football later this month.

United travelled to Spain roughly one week ago, with the squad at Ten Hag’s disposal mainly made up of youngsters and senior players that are not taking part in this winter’s World Cup.

A dozen first-team regulars at United were involved in the World Cup when United jetted off to Spain but now, with semi-finals of the World Cup looming, only five players remain in the competition.

Players will return to Manchester imminently to help United achieve their goals this season but it is believed they will be given a short break first.

In their absence, United first faced La Liga minnows Cadiz earlier this week and a young Reds side fell to a 4-2 defeat after initially coming back from a two-goal deficit.

Tonight, they were up against Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis and unfortunately, it was another defeat for United. The performance was an improvement on the previous game but Nabil Fekir’s second-half goal proved to be enough for the Spanish outfit.

With some international players set to be unavailable for the first few games when United return to competitive action, some youngsters will be hoping to have impressed Ten Hag and potentially be involved.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley will make the trip to Old Trafford in just 11 days as the two sides battle it out in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
