Hakim Ziyech has been urged to reunite with Erik ten Hag at United by former player

Former Moroccan international Mustafa El Haddaoui has urged Hakim Ziyech to reunite with Erik ten Hag and join Manchester United this winter.

The Chelsea winger has failed to make an impact since arriving in London, despite being a key man for Ajax before his departure.

This season in the Premier League, the 29-year-old has started just one match. He has made five appearances in total after making four cameos as a substitute but has not returned any goal contributions in his 148 minutes on the pitch.

Throughout Ziyech’s time in Amsterdam, he racked up 49 goals and 81 assists. He made a name for himself during the club’s remarkable Champions League campaign in the 2018/2019 season, in which they beat European giants Real Madrid and Juventus to progress to the semi-finals under Ten Hag.

His performances earned him a move to Chelsea, but things went downhill for him at the club since then. In 92 appearances, the Moroccan has scored 14 and assisted 10 goals.

Ziyech has, however, proven his quality is still there when playing at the World Cup in Qatar. He has been instrumental in Morocco’s progression to the quarter-finals and has scored and assisted on the world stage.

Ziyech told to sign for Red Devils

El Haddaoui told Corriere dello Sport: “Now we’re seeing Hakim’s potential, we can see what he’s capable of. He has a lot to offer. He needs to leave Chelsea and go to Manchester United because the former Ajax manager [Ten Hag] wanted him. He will bounce back, but he needs to leave Chelsea during the winter market.”
