Manchester United could renew their interest in Sevilla and Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, according to reports.
Yassine Bounou has been one of the top goalkeepers at this winter’s World Cup, with Morocco conceding just one goal since the tournament began and they’ve reached the quarter-finals after beating Spain.
The keeper was the hero once again in their round of 16 clash, keeping a clean sheet and saving two penalties after extra-time. He has been the calm presence behind their World Cup journey but beating Portugal in the next round will be an almighty task.
However, Bounou was initially linked with Manchester United earlier this year when the Mirror ran a report on the Red Devils being interested in the keeper.
Now, according to AS (cited by Yahoo), Bounou’s performances at the World Cup have led to rekindled interest from United.
The links come at an interesting time because David de Gea’s contract expires at the end of the season, although Erik ten Hag may decide to trigger a 12-month extension if he wants to keep the Spaniard as his No. 1. I can’t see De Gea staying at United and being paid more than any other keeper in the world to sit on the bench.
Clubs take a risk signing players off the back of an excellent World Cup, but this is clearly a talent United have been tracking for some time.
