Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has been nominated for the Championship Player of the Month award for November after truly announcing himself at the Stadium of light under Tony Mowbray.

After struggling on loan at Rangers last season, Amad Diallo knew he had a lot to prove this season at Sunderland this term. Manchester United spent big money to sign the Ivorian prospect from Atalanta and his recent form should give us all reason to be optimistic about his chances in the future.

The 20-year-old scored two goals and registered one assist in three games last month, including an important match winner against Birmingham City. Amad has also started the last 6 Championship matches despite struggling to get into Mowbray’s team at the start of the season.

Joining Amad as nominees for the November POTM award are Chuba Akpom (Middlesbrough), Kyle Bartley (West Brom) and Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City).

Amad praised by Stephen Elliott

Former Sunderland striker Stephen Elliott has warned Sunderland fans that they should “enjoy” Amad while they can. The former Republic of Ireland international doesn’t believe there are many defenders in the Championship that can live with the Ivory Coast international.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Elliott said: “Amad Diallo is showing exactly why Manchester United invested so much in him.

“The little winger is electric and when he is in the mood there aren’t going to be many in the Championship who will live with him.

“He got on the scoresheet again and could have had more. I think Sunderland fans need to enjoy him as much as they can because I believe he will be playing in his parent clubs’ team next season.”
