PSV Eindhoven increase asking price for Manchester United target Cody Gakpo

PSV Eindhoven are bound to increase their asking price for Cody Gakpo after watching him impress at the World Cup this winter.

According to Footmercato, PSV Eindhoven have increased their asking price to €75 million if any club wishes to sign Gakpo in the January transfer window.

The Netherlands forward was a wanted man in the summer.

Manchester United looked at signing the 23-year-old, but ultimately decided to opt for Antony instead, though that has not stopped speculation as newspapers suggest we will revisit a quest to sign Gakpo in the near future.

Leeds United missed out on the chance to sign Gakpo during the summer and manager Jesse Marsch recently admitted that they were likely to be priced out of any future move.

Gakpo has gone on to have a brilliant domestic season with PSV, but he has carried that form with him into the World Cup, scoring three goals in four matches. When you add that to his nine goals and 12 assists in just 14 outings for PSV this season, you can see why Erik ten Hag would want to add a player like this to his attack.

Next up for Louis van Gaal’s side is Argentina in the quarter-finals.

Let us know in the comments section if you think €75m is a fair price for Gakpo in January. It’s rare that a club would be willing to cash in on their best player midway through the season, but PSV will see this as an opportunity to make significant profit on the player.
